A method for space archaeology research: the International Space Station Archaeological Project

How does a ‘space culture’ emerge and evolve, how can archaeologists study such phenomenon? The International Space Station Archaeological Project seeks to analyse the social cultural context of an assemblage relating human presence in space. Drawing on concepts from contemporary archaeology, project pursues unique perspective beyond sociological or ethnographical approaches. Semiotic analysis material culture proxemic embodied space be achieved using NASA's archives documentation, images, video audio media. Here, authors set out method for this evidence. Understanding individuals groups use stations, discrete objects contextual relationships, promises reveal intersections identity, nationality community.
